Bee Smart Saturday

Description:

Learn all about pollinators in one sweet event. Hands-on activities and presentations about the importance of bees, pollinator plants and insects. With Erin Rupp, the founder of Pollinate Minnesota, each participant will have a chance to put on a beekeeping suit, hold a frame, see baby bees, taste honey right from the colony and, if we're lucky, see the queen!

Environmental Entomologist, Jessica Miller with Dragons Wynd will be returning with shadow boxes of bugs and more. The  U of M Bee Squad will be on hand to share about their Hive to Bottle program and Heidi will help you with your pollinator friendly plant questions and selections.

Sample and bring home some one source honey from our resident honeybees managed by the University of Minnesota Bee Squad.

Get your Bee Lawn questions answered with James Wolfin from Twin City Seed company, local vendor of our Bee Lawn Seed.

Learn more about the Hennepin County Environment and Energy Department's natural resource grants and conservation cost-share work.

Explore native bee and butterfly art created by the University of Minnesota College of Art and Design in partnership with Bloom Thumb and Metro Blooms.

Plant an annual planter for pollinators or have fun being a bee on a scavenger hunt for pollen!
